CHRISTMAS

Christmas, the birthday of Lord Jesus, is celebrated on December 25 every year. For two millennia, people around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature.

We celebrate Christmas Day as the birthday of Jesus Christ, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of their religion. Popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.

In India, most families put up a Christmas tree. Snow is in short supply, but that does not deter enterprising children from draping cotton wool all over their trees to imitate snow-covered evergreens. A lot of decorations and ornaments are handmade, and stars are everywhere.
