EID-AL-FITR

Eid al-Fitr is an important religious festival celebrated By Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.

The day of Eid falls on the first

day of the month of Shawwal (June-July). The Islamic calendar is based on the moon, therefore Eid's date may vary.

On this day, people in India go to the mosque to read Namaz (prayer). They wear new clothes and wish each other. Children get Eidi from elders which is a small gift. The whole day people wish and greet each other. Delicious delicacies are cooked and Sevai, a dessert, is made.
